Note: (This was from July 25.  Renamed the title so it showed up on our home page)

We have just released a new version of the dashboard.  This was a big release that took a couple of months.  Now that it is done, we'll continue adding to it, releasing updates as soon as they are done, instead of all at once like we did this time.  Almost everything will be improved more in the coming months.

A video overview will be added to this post soon.

Here's what's new:

Everything is now on one page.  So, there is no longer a "Dashboard" and "Management" link at the top.

To create a new link, click on the "Create link" link at the very top, beside "Add domain".  It will open the same form that you used to use in the management page.  When you save a link, note the status message that will appear in the upper right corner of the dashboard to let you know it was successful.

Tags have been renamed back to Groups like they were in version 1.   The tag cloud has been replaced with the "Groups" tab describe below, which lists your groups in a grid, so you can sort by # of links or group name.

Under the "News" section are three tabs for searching: "Search", "Domains", and "Groups".

In the "Search" tab, is a new search bar, with several options.  With it, you can do searches like, "Show the fastest falling links on all my domains during the last day".  You can also do more text searches, including searching referring sites and for links where you have used a specific campaign.  You can also search for links that have a limited quantity/time, or an expired limited quantity/time.  Play with the different options to see what results you can find.

With the "Domains" and "Groups" tabs, you can now compare total traffic from multiple domains or groups in a live graph.  To do so, go to one of those tabs and select multiple domains or groups by Ctrl clicking.  Below the list of domains or groups, you will see the graph.  The first graph tab shows the combined traffic for all selected domains or groups while the graph second tab shows the ones being compared.

Below the graph is a quick editing bar for the selected link.  There you can edit the groups, and the link destination.  Click the "Advanced Edit" button to open the same form as before, for more detailed editing.  The "Copy" button to make a copy of a link can be found there.

The "Links" tab now shows a lot more information about your links, and you can sort by all of it, including finally sorting by trends.  To compare the traffic from specific links, select the links and go to the "Compare Selected Links" tab, the third tab on the graph.

Pay close attention to the tab names.  They will change to indicate what you are looking at.  For instance, if you select some links, the "Referrers" and "Campaigns" tabs will change to only show the ones associated with the selected links.  You can deselect links quickly with the "Deselect Rows" button.

We have removed the "IPs" tab.  If you were using it and miss it, let us know how you were using it.  We may put it back.  We're going to be adding a "Map" tab or something to indicate the geographic regions visitors are coming from, so we're still collecting IP information.

What's coming next:

We are currently working on PHP 5.3 support, so if your host upgrades you, you will be able to do a repair on your domains to automatically get them working again.

We are also preparing to move to dedicated servers instead of cloud servers.  This should happen over the next two weeks, moving one client at a time.  Dashboard downtime will be very minimal.  We're expecting our new servers to be available any day now.

Once those two things are done, we are going to be working on some significant changes to how Campaigns are dealt with.  It's going to make things match more how people really use link redirection and create a whole lot more value for increasing keyword ranking for your links.

Lots more is coming after that.  Keep tuned!

John.
